Your body declares a truth you wont admit. Your stewardship of your body is on full display for all to see. How would you score on the job you are doing on you? Poor? Satisfactory? Excellent?
Your Body Declares
Overweight? You did not get there by accident. You ate your way there and you did not move your body enough – all on you.
Poor health statistics? Yes, some of that is DNA inspired, but your lack of attention to the things you COULD do (omission) has made those issues worse rather than managed or better. Blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol and more CAN be positively impacted through your lifestyle choices, no matter what your DNA dictates.
Hate what the mirror shows? Again, all on you! First of all, how you feel about what you see is totally your own opinion of yourself. You should love yourself no matter how you look, then because you love yourself – you pour loving care into yourself which WILL impact how you look. YOUR choice of clothes, YOUR choice to care for your hair, nails, skin and so on.

Honest Body Tells Our Truth
The thing is, our bodies does not so much betray us, as keeps us honest. We can lie about how much, how often, and what we eat – but the weight that shows up on our bodies tells the truth. We can say we love shrimp, but that allergic reaction shows our bodies and our minds are in disconnect with our physiological reality. We can believe we are invincible, but when we jump from the bridge, we will absolutely break. It reveals a truth that sometimes even medical experts cannot diagnose. Our bodies are sensitive to anything that is not just right for our equilibrium and it will tell us that something is not right, even if we do not know what that something is.
Health complications can cause real life issues. My family health history on default would have me heading to a horrid health future. It is SO IMPORTANT that we are deliberate about our health and what we put on and in our bodies as that is within our control.
Even when we fool the mirror, ourselves and others, our body will still with simple checks reveal your truth. Anorexia, drugs, disease and more may not be obvious to the naked eye, but will manifest the hidden truth publicly for all to see one day.
The Bible and Our Body
The Bible reminds us that our bodies is not ours, therefore, we have a stewardship responsibility for its care, just as the Priests had for the maintenance of the Temple when it was in a tent or building. Today, the Holy Spirit is not behind a special curtain. Today the Holy Spirit lives in US! “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20”
It is a sad thing that even today, we take better care of our paneled houses (our address where we live) than our bodies, where the Holy Spirit lives. God was angry about that in the past, I propose to you, He is just as angry about that level of stewardship today. Haggai 1:3-4 “”Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?””
Christians – we have done a POOR JOB managing this body that God has given us to move through this side of eternity. Join me in an upcoming challenge and let us FIX THIS! Your body will thank you in fantastic ways that will have massive ripple effects in many areas of your life.
I Challenge You
If you are listening to this and this link shows the date of the challenge is passed, connect with me because I WILL have more coming up soon.
So, let’s go back to 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 for a moment. It is foundational to our Christian faith to accept that the Holy Spirit lives in us. What you may have missed in this verse is the stewardship mandate declaration. “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” The portion, “You are not your own; you were bought at a price” speaks to the stewardship component of our mandate to care for this Temple. We are simply managers of what God has put under our control, and our body is very much under our control. This speaks back to the parable of the talents in Matthew 25, verses 14-30.
Now, I don’t know how many talents God gave you, but I propose he gave all of us 3 valuable assets:
We truly can positively impact our tomorrow by actions we take today. Join me in an upcoming challenge. Make yourself a priority and pour loving self-care into you. You need it. You deserve it, and for some of us, our quality of life going forward depends on it.
If you are already in action, awesome. If you are not, or if what you are doing is really not working, or you are procrastinating about doing that thing – then you NEED this challenge for structure, accountability, support, and encouragement.
